2017 Ford Escape Blower Motor Problems & Replacement
The blower motor is what moves heated or cooled air through the Escape's vents. If the temperature setting seems right but little or no air reaches the cabin, the blower side of the HVAC system is a better place to focus than the A/C compressor.

Cabin filter or blower motor?
A dirty cabin air filter can make airflow feel weak even if the blower motor is operating. Ford's normal maintenance schedule calls for cabin-filter replacement at 20,000 miles (32,000 km). If the blower sounds strong but the vents barely move air, checking filter history makes sense before assuming the motor needs replacement.
What about a blower that works only on some speeds?
When the blower works on certain settings but not others, the motor may not be the only suspect. The blower control electronics, climate-control head, wiring or connections can also affect speed control. A useful diagnosis checks whether the blower is receiving the command and power it should receive at the time the fault occurs.
Where is the blower motor?
The blower assembly is in the passenger-side HVAC area under the dash. Access is from the passenger footwell/under-dash area rather than from the engine compartment. Common blower-motor questions
Can a cabin filter make the blower seem weak?
Yes. A restricted filter reduces the amount of air that can pass through the HVAC case. The clue is that the blower may still sound as if it is spinning normally even though vent airflow is poor. If the motor is silent, intermittent or noisy, the problem points elsewhere.
What if the blower stops after running for a while?
An intermittent fault can be more informative than a motor that is permanently dead. Note whether the blower returns after the vehicle cools, after a bump in the road or after changing fan speed. A technician can use that pattern while checking the motor, connector, power supply and control side.
Should I replace the blower motor and control part together?
Not automatically. They are separate possible failure points. The better approach is to identify whether the motor is receiving the expected power and control when the symptom occurs, then replace the part that has actually failed.
