2017 Ford Escape Bolt Pattern, Lug and Wheel Specs
Here is a simple fitment guide that shows the 2017 Ford Escape bolt pattern (I've also heard it called lug pattern) for your SUV so you can buy wheels and tires with confidence. I focus on the measurements that matter and how they affect ride and steering feel. I add a few notes from living with our Escape, which we call Alice.
Core specs
- 2017 Ford Escape bolt pattern: 5 x 108 mm on most Escapes including our SE model
- 2017 Ford Escape lug pattern: 5 x 108 mm - this is often used instead of bolt pattern and I've included it here for clarity. They are the same
- 2017 Ford Escape center bore: 63.4 mm. Many aftermarket wheels use a larger bore and need hub centric rings to fit the hub snugly
- 2017 Ford Escape typical offsets: Positive offset is common on compact SUVs. Stay close to stock to keep scrub radius calm and avoid fender rub
- 2017 Ford Escape lug nuts: Verify seat type. Most use a conical seat. Torque to the spec in your manual with a 1/2 inch wrench
Wheel sizes you will see
- 17 inch wheels with 235/55R17 tires are common on the 2017 Ford Escape S and SE
- 18 inch wheels with 235/50R18 are common on optioned trims for the 2017 Ford Escape
- 19 inch wheels with 235/45R19 appear on some 2017 Ford Escape Titanium builds
Bigger wheels sharpen response a bit but ride more firmly and cost more to tire. For winter, 17s with proper snow tires feel confident and quiet.
Offset and spacer sanity
- Keep the tire centered in the wheel well. Too low an offset pushes the tire outward and can rub under compression
- If you must run a spacer, use hub centric spacers with proper extended studs or bolts. Recheck torque after 80 to 100 km
Hub rings and vibration
Aftermarket wheels often have a larger center bore. Use plastic or aluminum hub centric rings sized to 63.4 mm on the inner step so the wheel centers on the hub. This reduces vibrations that feel like a balance issue.
Tire size tips
- Match load and speed ratings to the placard or better
- Stay near the stock overall diameter so the speedometer and ABS behavior feel normal
- Choose a tread pattern that fits your roads. Touring for quiet and comfort. All terrain for light trails. Winter for ice and snow
