2017 Ford Escape Wiper Blade Size & Replacement

Nothing ruins a rainy drive faster than streaky wipers. Here’s the quick guide I use for reference for my 2017 Ford Escape wiper blade size, including both front wiper blades and rear wiper blade too, how to swap wiper blades without swearing, and how to keep them from chattering a month later.

Go Right To Wipers and Sizes

2017 Ford Escape wiper blade size (front & rear)

While some blade wiper lengths can depend on brand and hook style, the 2017 Ford Escape front driver and passenger wiper blades are the same length at 28" each, and the rear is a smaller dedicated wiper blade which is 11". When shopping, confirm the attachment style and you'll find that most are the common hook style. If your arms are aftermarket, double-check the connector before you toss the packaging.

How often should I replace them?

Many owners swap blades about once a year (or sooner if you see streaking, squeaking, or “missed” arcs). UV and heat bake the rubber; winter salt and grime don’t help either. If you park outside, you’ll likely replace more often. I usually swap mine on Alice at the end of winter so I’m ready for spring storms.

DIY replacement (5 friendly steps)

  1. Protect the glass: Lift the wiper arm gently and lay a soft towel on the windshield in case the arm springs back.
  2. Release the old blade: Most use a small tab or latch on the adapter. Press it and slide the blade downward off the hook.
  3. Attach the new blade: Slide the new blade onto the hook until it clicks. Tug lightly to confirm it’s locked.
  4. Repeat and test: Do both fronts so wear is even. For the rear, open the hatch, lift the arm, and swap the small blade the same way.
  5. Wipe the glass and run a test: Spray washer fluid and run the wipers a few cycles to seat the rubber. Check for streaks or chatter.

Streaks, chatter, and fixes

Note: Double-check the connector type in the product photos (hook vs. specialty adapters). Test on a wet windshield and keep the towel trick handy to protect the glass.

Washer fluid & winter ideas

In cold climates, winter fluid is a must as it won’t freeze on the glass. If you park outside, flip your wipers up before a storm to keep them from icing to the windshield. I keep a small plastic scraper in the door pocket just for the rear window; it’s safer than trying to chip with a credit card.

Owner habits from my experiences

Important note

Always verify fitment in the brand’s guide when you buy, and check your owner’s manual for any model-specific notes. If the arm adapter looks different, compare the included adapters in the wiper box however most kits ship with several connectors.
